What Is Seasonal Living?

What Is Seasonal Living?

"Life is full of transitions and changes, embracing each season with open arms is essential to personal growth".

When the first snowfall hits the forecast. When mother earth starts awakening, bringing with her sprouting life and warmth. Long summer days that blend into nights under the stars, sandy toes, and salty hair. Crisp mornings where the trees bring out a color wheel of magic, falling poetically to the ground and signaling change is on the horizon. To the quiet, picturesque beauty that a blanket of snow brings early on a lazy Saturday morning.

There is something comforting and grounding with the transition of seasons, or better known in our house as the ‘Celtic wheel of the year’. For me, it is a constant connection in a world full of the unknown. I have found that if I take some time to intentionally slow down, take a deep breath here and there, I start seeing things in a kinder light.

When we work with natures ebbs and flows, a hidden burden, we probably didn’t even know we were holding, lifts. There is joy and beauty to be found in the smallest, simplest of things each season if we nurture and celebrate them.

Ostara, or more commonly known as the Vernal Equinox, was on March 20th. This is when the light and the dark are of equal length, a symbolic sign that spring has started to claw its way through. Spring is a time that always feels so energetic to me, like I’ve been in this deep slumber both mentally and physically and have suddenly been woken from. It’s as if nothing is out of reach and endless possibilities lie ahead.

Ways to celebrate Ostara or Spring:

1. Plant your veggie and fruit seedlings
2. Spend some time with nature
3. Bring the outdoors, in with whatever has started blooming
4. Do a spring cleaning ritual of your living space
5. Set new intentions during the season of renewal
6. Host a gathering with food and/or bonfire
7. Decorate eggs
8. If you want to get a little “witchy” with it, you create a spring equinox altar. An example can be found by following this link. Becca is someone I follow and admire.
